The Challenge of Obesity in the WHO European Region and the Strategies for Response

This book collects the papers that were written by a large group of experts in public health, nutrition and medicine in preparation of the WHO Ministerial Conference on Countearacting Obesity (November 2006). The books provides numerous arguments for accelerating action against obesity. Two chapters (11 and 15) present both determinants of physical activity and effective measures for promotion, developed with extensive contributions from HEPA Europe.

Tackling Obesity by Creating Health Residential Environments

The project included a review of the literature on relationships between the residential environment, physical activity and obesity and a collection of community interventions to create residential environments that support physical activity, including projects of HEPA Europe members. The report also presents results of the WHO Large Analysis and Review of European housing and health Status (LARES) survey.
