Report carried out by the NHS that investigated teenagers fears about a number of issues.
Methods: The research was undertaken by the NHS Teen Lifecheck website, which contained an interactive quiz. Participants were identified as being at risk of ill health, attributed to lifestyle choices. The website offers advice dependent on participants responses. Within a period of 3 months, 10, 000 teenagers (12 to 15 years old) had completed a life-check.
Findings: The most popular fears of teenagers were about was losing weight and fitting in. Social differences were also noted; with children from low-income families being worried about bullying, drugs and smoking compared to high income families. Double the number of teens from low-income families worried about bulling. Teenagers from high-income families are more likely to worry about peer pressure and fitting in. Teenagers also discussed issues such as their support networks, drugs, alcohol, personal safety, healthy eating and exercise. Some quotes from stakeholders and participants are also included.
