The main aim of the National Physical Activity Research and Evaluation (NPARE) Group group is to identify, commission and disseminate research and evaluation on areas of common interest which promote and provide opportunities for the Scottish population to participate in physical activity.
NPARE Objectives

- To identify and agree a common data set of outcomes and indicators for projects and programmes specifically designed to increase physical activity
- To identify key gaps in existing research into, and evaluation of, the promotion and provision of opportunities for increasing physical activity levels and improving health, including the impact of environmental factors on physical activity levels and the barriers to participation in physical activity
- To commission, manage and disseminate through NHSHS, appropriate research to help augment the existing evidence base.
- To encourage partnership working amongst member organisations in the promotion and provision of physical activity opportunities.
- To identify potential barriers in policies, strategies and action plans which may restrict the promotion and provision of opportunities for physical activity.
NPARE Group Membership
Membership of the NPARE group is open to any Scottish organisation (or an organisation with an office in Scotland) which is involved to some degree in physical activity and health and has an existing remit for providing research and evaluation, policy development or policy delivery with its own internal funding.
