Living Streets: Scotland

Living Streets is the national charity that stands up for pedestrians.

Living Streets work to create safe, attractive and enjoyable streets across Scotland, where people want to walk.

For more than eighty years Living Streets have been working to make sure streets and public spaces put the needs of people first. In the early years, campaigning by Living Streets led to the introduction of the driving test, pedestrian crossings and 30mph speed limits.

Since then their ambitions have grown. Today Living Streets:

  • Campaign and influence decision makers nationally and locally via policy briefings.
  • Run successful projects to encourage people to walk.
  • Provide specialist consultancy services and resources to help reduce congestion and carbon emissions, improve public health and make sure every community can enjoy vibrant streets and public spaces.
