Addressing the Socioeconomic Determinants of Healthy Eating Habits and Physical Activity Levels Among Adolescents

This case study report from ten countries focuses on health behaviours of school children.

The Health Behaviour of School Children study indicates that adolescents from less privileged socioeconomic groups report poorer health and considerably less physical activity than adolescents from more privileged backgrounds. The socioeconomic conditions in which adolescents live can influence health behaviour, health and lifestyles.

The WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development supports the identification of best-practice interventions and health promotion activities to address the social and economic determinants of adolescent health, which can result in improvement of immediate and long-term health outcomes.
