Street Soccer Scotland

Street Soccer Scotland is a non-profit social enterprise which delivers a range of football related services to socially disadvantaged adults and young people across Scotland.

Street Soccer began in 2009, providing weekly drop in football sessions in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and from there has grown to providing a range of opportunities and activities across Scotland to over 5000 people.

The programmes use football as a tool to engage with socially disadvantaged groups aged 16 to 60 years including those affected by homelessness, drug/alcohol misuse, unemployment etc.

A recent evaluation of the drop-in sessions shows the positive impact Street Soccer Scotland is having on many:

  • 96% of participant reported improvements in their fitness;
  • 46% of participants had reduced their substance misuse / intake;
  • 42% said attendance at weekly drop-in sessions was their only access to sport and physical activity.
