Physical literacy is an important concept that focuses on the development of motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding so that individuals value and take responsibility for their engagement in physical activity for life.

We know that physical activity has an immense health benefit, but for many people the lack of motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding, means they may be reluctant to engage in physical activity throughout life.

Leading people from health and education are being invited to come together to find out how they can most effectively share the concept of physical literacy and encourage individuals to be more physically active, thus promoting holistic health throughout life. There will be delegates and speakers coming from all over the world to share their knowledge, understanding and experience.

There will be three panel sessions during the day, each containing four contributors who will deliver a 5-minute presentation. Each one of the contributors will deliver from the perspective of a life stage (Early Years, School Age, Adults in the Community, Older Adult).

The conference will be an inspiring and engaging day with plenty of opportunities to join in discussions, participate in breakout sessions and networking.

In the morning, there are three main panel sessions that will look at:

Panel 1 - Physical literacy holistic health and flourishing
Panel 2 - Physical literacy valuable experiences across the life-course
Panel 3 - Physical literacy navigating the challenges

The afternoon session will start with a keynote from Mike Farrar, Chair of ASA and former Chief Executive of NHS Confederation and NHS North West.

Afterwards, you will get the chance to join a breakout group to find out more and help develop plans within specific age groups. You will have the choice of which age group breakout session you would like to attend when you register.
