What is Legacy Week?

Legacy week will take place from 9 - 15 March 2015.

What is Legacy Week?

Monday 9 – Sunday 15 March 2015 is Legacy Week, an opportunity for people, communities and organisations across Scotland to highlight the legacy of the Commonwealth Games, shining a spotlight on how programmes, projects and investment are improving the lives of people across Scotland and in Glasgow.

Legacy Week is supported by the Scottish Government and partners across Scotland delivering the legacy of the Games. It’s the first Legacy Week since the Games took place last summer.

It’s an opportunity to find out about projects connected to the Games and encourage people to get involved and make the most of the facilities and opportunities available.

Key Messages for Legacy Week

  • The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games was the biggest sporting and cultural event Scotland hosted, with benefits lasting beyond 2014.
  • In Glasgow and across the whole of Scotland, the Commonwealth Games provided an exceptional opportunity to make our nation healthier, our cities greener, our businesses to prosper, and celebrate our modern and vibrant culture both at home and on the world stage.
  • Scotland will continue to benefit from the best Games ever.
  • Legacy means different things for different people but there's something for everyone.
  • We planned early, we have the programmes in place, and people are benefitting now.
