Unicef Report Card Explores Child Inequality

Unicef’s latest Report Card, Fairness for Children, explores the inequality gap facing children in rich countries.

The report focuses on bottom-end inequality (the gap between children at the bottom and those in the middle) and addresses the question “How far behind are children being allowed to fall?” in income, education, health and life satisfaction.

Currently the UK ranks 14th out of 35 countries, alongside Germany, Greece and Hungary. Denmark rank in first, with the least child recorded child inequality.

Health inequality considers physical activity as a key variable. In the UK the relative gap for physical activity remained stable between 2002 and 2014.
