Supporting Policy and Action for Active Environments (SPAcE) is a project which aims to integrate active transport into public policy across the European Union.

During the three-year project (01 May 2015 - 31 December 2017), project partners from regional governments, higher education institutions and national governing bodies from eight European Countries will be working to identify good practice, share experience and knowledge and implement action plans that will promote Urban Active Environments.  Staff working at implementation sites will be trained to use the Health Economic Assessment Tool to assess the value of the Urban Active Environment Action Plan.

Project lead, Professor Diane Crone of the University of Gloucestershire believes ‘the project has the potential to make a real impact on public policy within the EU and to address physical inactivity in partner countries’.
