Thousands of people in England at high risk of type 2 diabetes in ten areas will soon start to benefit from the first National NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.

The Healthier You Diabetes Prevention Programme aims to benefit up to 100,000 people from 2020 onwards. When announced in June 2016, it was anticipated that the first ten sites would start taking referrals within two to four weeks.

The people who are referred will get tailored, personalised help to reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes including education on healthy eating, lifestyle, help to lose weight and bespoke physical exercise programmes.
